  • Tom Prioli races to a second place finish in Loudon! After several months of work and preparation on the #172 Checkered Flag Indoor Karting TEP Motorsports kart, Tom Prioli found himself near the front of the pack and racing his heart out in the NHKA’s Spec 125 TAG Sprint 2 class. A red flag came out shortly before the half way point. This meant a restart in the current running order. Tom started third, and shortly after the restart gained a position on fellow All-Kart driver Bob Cronin. The finish moved Tom Prioli into Third palce for the season standings. TEP Motorsports is very proud of this accomplishment and is hoping a win is only a few turns away.

  • Tom Prioli races to a third place finish in Loudon! After several months of work and preparation on the #172 Checkered Flag Indoor Karting TEP Motorsports kart, Tom Prioli found himself near the front of the pack and racing his heart out in the NHKA’s Spec 125 TAG Sprint 1 class. With temperatures in the 90’s, Tom Prioli got a great start off the line and was running in forth place. As the second lap began, Tom prepared to make a move for third place but as he went to set up the pass, the third place kart missed the apex of turn 2 and got into the marbles. Tom went low to avoid the kart as it made contact with the outside retaining wall and spun. A red flag came out and the race was completely restarted. “I couldn’t believe it,” said driver Tom Prioli. “I saw the driver stand up and get out of the kart. I knew he was ok but I couldn’t believe that I was running in third and the race was going to have to be a complete restart. I was very nervous to have to go through the start again.”

Tom’s fears would soon go away as this time he would come out of the grid in second place behind teammate Tony Tedeschi. About four laps into the race Mike Camarra passed Tom for the second position and went on to win the race. Tony Tedeschi finished second, and Tom Prioli rounded out the top three. “It was a great day for us,” said Tom Prioli at the conclusion of the event. “It felt good to be running up front; I knew we were more than capable of doing it. This has been a long time coming. Hopefully we can do it again at the nationals is August.”

In Sunday’s Spec 2 race, the jetting was a little too rich and Tom was running in 5 th place coming to the checkered flag. However as he came down off of turn 9, the carburetor came off of the motor. Not sure what was wrong and thinking the motor had blown up, Tom shut the kart off and pulled off as he did not want to risk coasting to the finish line without know what was wrong. “The bracket has been bent for a while,” said crew chief Ron Prioli. “We were trying to replace it as some point over the weekend but we ran out of time. By the time we go racing again, this will be a problem of the past.”

    • The TEP Motorsports team experienced some setbacks while racing at Daytona. The TEP Motorsports kart had unknowingly suffered chassis damage back at New Hampshire International Speedway in October and it was not discovered until taking to the track at Daytona. Driver Tom Prioli struggled to keep the kart on track during the first race but did manage to finish on the lead lap. Things would only get worse however in the Spec 125 TAG 2 event when halfway through the event the clutch failed. Crew Chief Ron Prioli stated that the clutch damage "was most likely a product of the chassis damage."
